Boy Vs. Fish

This piece is a birthday present to Aston. He caught a bass and it inspired me to write this piece. I tried to write it kind of like Schubert's "Die Forelle" so we can get the perspective of both characters in the story. Spoiler: it doesn't go so well for the fish. I used the Lydian scale because I thought it worked well for a water scene. The various harmonies that resulted reminded me of the soundtrack from Downton Abbey or the Dario Marianelli "Pride and Prejudice," though the resemblance was incidental. Happy birthday, Aston.
