Underwater

“Underwater” allows a student to imagine the feeling of being swirled and driven along by the waves underwater. It is written at an elementary level and uses a whole-tone scale with white keys in the left hand and black keys in the right hand. The piece explores three octaves of the keyboard with crossovers in both hands. The smallest note value is a quarter note, and this piece is written in triple meter. The pedal is engaged at the beginning and stays down until the last chord. Many dynamic changes are written in to encourage expressive playing.
